"You can not make your daughter groan girls from pleasure? It's really no problem..."
ok, so i post alot of random dumb youtube links here. i hope you like some of them.
this one is a lecture by randy pausch, a carnegie melon professor. i guess a series was done where they asked professors to give a lecture as if it were their last: to impart wisdom on people with no repercussions.
this one is a good listen. a bit of star wars fantasy for us mere mortals who don't have CMU magical powers to get into disney and EA on projects but still.... he has some advice for us commoners. it's mostly about CMU and the environment there and it makes me sick as fuck that i couldnt afford to go there, but hey, everything awesome costs something. fact of life i guess.
best quote is at the beginning when people are applauding, he comes out and says "make me earn it"
high points:
37:00 or so for hello world VR clip. "hello world" stuff is always interesting 1:10.45 happy birthday to his wife. ending where he sums it up. we're talkin cliffs notes for the lazy fucks.
seriously, watch this, it's well worth the 1 1/4 hours of your life. really seriously, watch it to the total end. there are lots of little (and not so little) gems in this. i mean i have never watched anything on youtube more than 15 minutes.... yes yes i love those little 1-2-3 minutes of stupidity, but this is a good bit better than that.
r.i.p. george carlin. you made some of us think. thank you.
if you have firefox 3, type "about:robots" into the address bar and hit enter.
i wonder if it calls every driver michael?
"michael take a right since i seem to have lost control over the pedals and wheels. and why am i red? has devin lost his mind?"
i also see it has some red bars on either side, i wonder if they move with the voice like the control panel in kitt?
i'm taking a break from my normal useless type blog stupidity to mention something quite possibly truly very cool. using cloned immune system cells to fight skin cancer. 2 years after the fact and doing fine. one of my old roomies had skin cancer, he has a pretty nasty scar on his calf. and he went into great details about the joy of chemo. sounds lovely. this sounds much simpler like a big injection of 5 billion cells in a huge syringe. yey for science!
circa 1951, there is a recording of some computer generated music. pretty surprising for '51 and according to the article there was music generated earlier but no known recordings exist.
full article, infos, and audio at the BBC...
granted there were machines making noise with electric dating to the 1800s.... looking at audio software today it still amazes me what they can do in pure software.

firefox is trying to set a world record for the most downloads in 24 hours. you should go download a copy and help out....
version 3 is out and the "awesome bar" alone makes it worth it. super fast awesome searches on the fly when typing in addresses. it's awesome.
(did i just use "awesome" 3 times in a very very small paragraph???)
contestants #3 ftw!
as we're coming into the home stretch of the bush fiasco, someone in congress has balls to levy charges against bush publicly. will anything actually happen? nah i doubt it.
hey maybe they can put it to a vote in congress? and diebold can "tally" up the results? it'll be spectacular
here's USA todays informal web-o-matic tally:

somewhat related. got into it w mum about whether i should vote or not this year.
my thinking is the ohio elections were blatantly rigged. so why bother? i'm sure they'll be rigged again this time around, nothing has been done to correct anything. (remember one county with population 3k, had 6k votes? among other oddness) still no paper trail of votes.
i am still registered, i always keep myself registered and just never vote. because nothing ever changes. same shit different reich. i should go vote and write in some fun stuff at least? who knows.
i want an original xbox for parts. mostly need the case and a few screws, but can use whatever.
if u have one laying around LMK
i dont need a 360 but hey if u got one of those dead and are gonna toss it i'll take it to see if i can fix it and play GTA4 =)
Retirement plans compared...
If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.
With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1000.
With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left.
If you had purchased $1000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left.
If you had purchased United Airlines, you would have nothing left.
But, if you had purchased $1000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for recycling, you would have $214.00.
Based on the above, the best current investment advise is to drink heavily and recycle. This is called the 401-Keg Plan.
how bad would it be to drive a tank on the road? or even better... TWO at the same time. here's 2 tanks welded together to make one monstrosity!!! 4 miles to the gallon--yikes!
over at my last.fm page...
Elvis Presley - "One Sided Love Affair"
track 10,000 submitted!!! though i suspect it should be much higher since i was getting weird submission errors and for awhile it seemed last.fm dropped alot of stuff i was listening to.
but in any event, its a nice round happy number that means zilch at the end of the day. yey!!!!
funniest star trek video mashup since the picard song. it's by the same people that did the myspace intervention one. they have some pretty funny stuff at their site.
yeah, we know that myspace picked up when friendster hit a brick wall. and facebook has kicked it up a notch from there. but myspace didnt know until now:
(the sequel to this)
