ok, so i post alot of random dumb youtube links here. i hope you like some of them.
this one is a lecture by randy pausch, a carnegie melon professor. i guess a series was done where they asked professors to give a lecture as if it were their last: to impart wisdom on people with no repercussions.
this one is a good listen. a bit of star wars fantasy for us mere mortals who don't have CMU magical powers to get into disney and EA on projects but still.... he has some advice for us commoners. it's mostly about CMU and the environment there and it makes me sick as fuck that i couldnt afford to go there, but hey, everything awesome costs something. fact of life i guess.
best quote is at the beginning when people are applauding, he comes out and says "make me earn it"
high points:
37:00 or so for hello world VR clip. "hello world" stuff is always interesting 1:10.45 happy birthday to his wife. ending where he sums it up. we're talkin cliffs notes for the lazy fucks.
seriously, watch this, it's well worth the 1 1/4 hours of your life. really seriously, watch it to the total end. there are lots of little (and not so little) gems in this. i mean i have never watched anything on youtube more than 15 minutes.... yes yes i love those little 1-2-3 minutes of stupidity, but this is a good bit better than that.
