uggggg

i sweaaaarrrr all electronics hate me. last night i saw a few flashes of lightning out yonder window breaking. at the same time my email program popped up a box complaining it cant reach the web server. i figure its the cable modem dropping sync or something. nope. i can get to other web sites, as well as other servers in the same room at mine. crapshitfuck, i know where this usually goes.

not shit i can do til the morning. i get in and fire up the monitor on it and lo and behold its complaining about a NMI and mentions its probably "bad memory" uggg... after some dicking around i realize its just being all around jerky and also that the ethernet port is toast.

sigh. well at least i have very current backups--yay for email backup scripts!--and a pile of other servers to part together something. too bad i didnt have a matching dell to rip a motherboard out of. but if this bitch blows up, i got i think 5 more nearly identical ones to pull from.

so the whole day at work was rebuilding that box since it handles some light web, email, and dns duties at work..... *sigh*

....and all this after having a 250 gig hard drive acting up this weekend with seek errors. it's a western digital of course. it was free, but shit, i know better than to ever use a western digital.
